Race description
The 2nd race for the Panhellenic Sports Day "In the Name of Alkis" is organized by the February 1st Structure, a non-profit organization based on volunteerism. The race aims to honor the memory of Alkis Kampanos and promote the message that sports unite and do not kill. Participants run wearing their favorite jerseys and colors, on a route passing through central points of Thessaloniki, providing an opportunity for the entire community to actively participate. The race includes routes of 5 km and 1 km for younger runners.
Highlights
- 5 km route from the intersection of Alexandrou Papapanastasiou and Nik. Plastira towards the Concert Hall and New Waterfront
- Finish at the Statue of Alexander the Great
- 1 km route along the New Waterfront in front of the "Sand Garden" (AVENUE)
Additional information
All participants wear the number 19. The race is dedicated to the Panhellenic Sports Day and the memory of Alkis Kampanos. There is an option for volunteers to participate. The first person to register for the 5 km race is a member of the Structure residing in Munich and will travel to Thessaloniki to run. The routes start from locations within Thessaloniki, and the organization also includes social actions such as food collection and inclusion of people with disabilities. Participation is open to everyone, and the event promotes athletic unity and social awareness.
