Race description
The 2nd Vertical Challenge is an international mountain running race of 'vertical kilometer' organized in Gerakas Xanthi by the Hellenic Mountaineering Club of Xanthi in collaboration with the Regional Unit of Xanthi. Athletes start from the village of Gerakas and ascend on a 3.5 km uphill route with a vertical difference of +1000m, reaching an altitude of 1415m where they finish. Simultaneously, the Gerakas Trail and Gerakas Path races are held, featuring circular routes of varying difficulty and distance. The event welcomes runners aged 12 and above, with special conditions for younger participants. Registrations are made online through the club's website and are individual.
